ALBERTO MEDINA – 70 YEARS OF ART HOMAGE EXHIBITION
Medina’s best known work in pictorial techniques is characterized by the use of the human figure in the representation of Andean characters, miners and peasants, located in the rural environment. These characters are presented in a stony semi-figuration of great impact for its monumentality and angularity determined by the influence of international cubism. A large part of Medina’s work is dedicated to the telluric, exploring issues related to national identity, a characteristic very typical of Latin American social artists of his generation. On the other hand, the skillful treatment of the Andean landscape, of the mountains inspired by the Achachilas, stands out in these works. It is these entities to which the artist from Oruro delivers his vision and sensitivity as a commitment to his land.
